Getting Things Done

Hi,

Procrastinating is human. But for those who want to make money online, procrastinating can be another nasty habit that keeps freedom at bay.

So why don’t we start with what does procrastination feel like and what should you do about it?

Follow these 4 steps:

1) The first thing you need to do is learn how to recognize that you’re procrastinating. I know that might sound foolishly simple, but stay with me…

Procrastinating has tell-tale signs. For example, when you’re about to procrastinate, you might get a sinking feeling or feel a pit in your stomach. You know what I mean… that feeling of “Ugh!”

You’ll get that feeling just before you cheat… in this case, just before you engage in a substitute activity to put off doing the task you really should be focusing on instead. Take Jack here for example: Jack knows he should sit down to write new blog post. Like the person on a diet who is about to eat a bagful of chocolates, Jack feels a pang of guilt. And then instead of living up to his commitment of blogging every day, Jack loses himself surfing the Web.

2) The second step is to figure out why you are procrastinating.

While we each have our reasons for procrastinating, it’s generally true that we put off doing something because we’d rather not do it.

Does that mean we’re lazy? Consider this for a moment…

If you’re dreading doing something, couldn’t it also be that this is something you’re not so good at or have no passion for? And that each time you do it you the activity feels awkward, boring, or drains you of precious energy?

If this is the case, find someone to do the work for you. For every activity you dread performing, there is someone who can do it faster, cheaper and with more enthusiasm.

3) The third and last step is to change something so that you no longer procrastinate.

Procrastination is not an incurable malady. Here are some anti-procrastination remedies:

* Put your to-dos in plain view. For example, write them on a large dry-erase board. This will help keep you focused on the necessary and important.

* Track your time. When you work on your own, there is nobody to keep track of your time. When you track your own time, you will soon see how much you indulge in the unnecessary to avoid the necessary.

* Delegate the activity to someone else. This is the mother of all ways to streamline and grow your online business.

4) Keep reading this blog on a regular basis. If you find yourself in a rut, working slowly, procrastinating or sabotaging yourself, let me help you get unstuck.

So, let’s recap. Once you become aware that you are procrastinating, figure out why you are procrastinating. Then take required action. And remember to continue reading this blog.

Whatever your business model is for making money online, there has got to be at least one activity you should be doing on a regular basis to grow your business. And odds are pretty high that you might procrastinate that activity, if not ignore it altogether. Luckily, you can outsource that activity, and make it someone else’s responsibility.

If you are not sure what activities to outsource or how to create procedures to outsource, my printed newsletter that is all about outsourcing is a good place to start. You can learn more here:

Article Marketing - Increase Web Traffic

March 25th, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

If you are not doing article marketing, you are missing out on one of the most effective procedures to increase Web traffic.

Article marketing is one of a handful of procedures and processes you can put in place to help your Internet business grown. It makes no difference whether you want to increase traffic to your Web site, position you or your company as an expert or whether you want more sales. Article marketing can help you achieve those goals faster.

In a nutshell, article marketing involves writing articles on one topic or another related to your product or service, and then telling Web sites about these articles. You “tell” Web sites about your articles using a process known as “article submission.”

Notice how I used the word procedure at the very beginning of this article. In fact, article marketing is a procedure. Just like how changing your oil is a procedure which your mechanic follows.

Let me say one more thing about procedures, and then I’ll move on…

With some procedures, the steps are sequenced in a specific order. For example, your mechanic would not pour oil into your car before removing the fill cap or draining your existing oil… You get the idea?

The same is true with article marketing.

But whereas there are only so many ways to change a car’s oil, there are about as many ways to do article marketing as there are ways to make a cake.

And guess what? When it comes to article marketing, most people screw it up.

That’s not to say they don’t get results. In fact some people have gotten results that seem especially good–but they’ve done so exerting much more effort and by investing much more time than actually necessary.

What I mean is most people who do article marketing are not following the right recipe. And by missing key steps in the article marketing process, they are not maximizing their efforts or resources. Result… their cake does not turn out as tasty as it should.

Stay on the lookout, because I’ll be picking up on where we’ve left off soon.

Ciao,

-Taylor

Why An Internet Business Mentor?

March 22nd, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

Would you rather be a slave to your business, or have the freedom to do whatever you want with your time? If you’re like most people who want to make money online, the answer is obvious…

So when you imagine your ideal Internet business, do you see yourself taxed by a never ending to-do list? In my experience, most people see themselves traveling the world rather than being stuck running all aspects of their online businesses themselves.

Then why do you put off taking steps to distance yourself from those day-to-day activities that are a waste of your time?

Why do you not get a handle on those aspects of your business that you find yourself executing from one week to the next or one day after the other?

What’s keeping you from documenting those activities and formalizing them into business procedure?

What’s preventing you from combining common and necessary tasks and turning them into systems that others can execute for you?

Is it fear? Plenty of people get over phobias every day. Many have walked over coals and have gotten over those fears.

Would you believe the one of the biggest fears people have is the fear of succeeding? Are you afraid of succeeding?

Whatever your fear, you can overcome it. It is all in your head. Challenge your assumptions. Look at beliefs that are holding you back and that are keeping you from your dreams.

Is it boredom? Maybe that’s a clue you really should outsource certain activities, because even though they might be necessary to your business, these activities do not get you jazzed up and simply are not a good use of your time.

Is it uncertainty? Maybe you’re not even sure exactly what you should systematize, automate and outsource. I subscribe to the belief that action is better than no action. One of my mentors told me about a niche site he set up. He had a ghostwriter write fifty autoresponders for him. It wasn’t world-class copywriting, but his site did much better than competitors who had no autoresponder follow-up at all.

So what if you make a mistake… if you are committed to constant improvement, you know how to learn from your mistakes. Tell that to the perfectionist in you.

As you consider what I’ve said, think about how much time you are investing in your business. Have you sat down and looked at the things that need to be done on a regular basis to see your business thrive… eventually without you?

Are you getting those done?

If you need direction and focus, join my intern program. If you don’t know where to start, sign up to be my intern. If you want someone to show you the ropes, enroll in my intern program. There in black and white you will experience business systems to make your own business thrive. Yes, it’s that easy!

Time Sequencing, Not Time Management

March 20th, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

If you actually think about it, time management is not what it’s all about.

Even though time management is important, what’s even more important is time sequencing or activity sequencing. In other words, doing the right thing at the right time.

If you don’t know the thing to do at the right time, then you’re going to need to enlist your team, your partners or mentors to help you figure that out. In life and in business, there often are many ways to accomplish a goal… goals like losing weight, getting accepted to a top university, getting a business loan, or even increasing Web traffic. And usually some sequences are significantly more effective than others at achieving the desired result.

Updating ClickBank

March 19th, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

I learned ClickBank now allows for interaction between the customer and ClickBank to be “localized” in Spanish.

Other planned enhancements include French and German language capabilities, as well as the ability to accept orders in currencies other than USD.

If you think competing in the make money online space is like fighting an uphill battle, maybe you have some ideas about how to make money with a Spanish-speaking audience.

Because there have been a number of changes to Clickbank since I first released my Clickbank tutorial, I would like update this product. So I would like to hear your wish list.  What would you like to see added to my ClickBank video?

If you make a suggestion and I use it… I’ll give you a complimentary copy of ClickBank Vol. 2 when I’m ready to release it. Just make your suggestions as comments to this post.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Less Reading, More Blogging…

March 19th, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

I’ve mentioned before how for those who want to start an Internet business watching television is a waste of time and does more harm than you might realize.

No doubt you may have read about this on other blogs whether or not they teach you about Internet marketing.

But do you realize how reading many of those same blogs has become habit-forming? Do you realize they’re as addictive as television?

Plain and simple, reading blogs is a major time vampire. And the sooner you realize this, the sooner you’ll be able to make more money online.

If you want freedom, starting today, cut back on the number of blogs you follow and how much time you spend reading them.

Take some of the time you would have spent reading other people’s blogs and invest it in your own blog. How, you ask?By writing!

Finally, there is one specific way your business can benefit by you reading other people’s blogs which I may cover at some point in the future.

Ciao,

72 Hour Special: Outsourcing Newsletter

March 18th, 2008 by Administrator
Respond

Hi,

I have a new paper newsletter devoted entirely to outsourcing procedures.

In fact, I have named it…

Outsourcing Procedures

I will reveal some of my best tips, strategies and insights about outsourcing procedures in my own Internet businesses… and sometimes in the businesses of fellow online entrepreneurs, independent professionals and small business owners.

The articles published in my paper newsletter will not be republished here on the blog. In fact, that is why I think I want a paper newsletter. There are some questions people ask me from time-to-time that I’m just not willing to answer on a public blog. A good example is a question recently about my procedure that gets me good results with vendors on freelancer Web sites where others have failed. Or what steps we took to get one of my clients to number 1 in iTunes.

That’s valuable information. You can get a lot of free information here on the blog, but that particular information just goes too far. I’m not willing to answer questions like those here on the blog.

There is a ton to learn from how others outsource. Would you like an insider’s view of my business?

Would you like to learn about outsourcing procedures to systematize many different areas of your business and create more freedom for yourself?

That’s what this newsletter is all about. I will simply be sharing procedures from my own business so you don’t have to guess or re-invent the wheel.

The cost of this newsletter will be only $25/issue or $300/year.

However, I am launching this newsletter with a 72-hour special for blog readers only.

Until 5 PM this Friday (Eastern Daylight Time which is GMT-4), you can subscribe to Outsourcing Procedures for only $100 for the first year. That’s only about $8.33/issue or one third the price. Here is the URL:

http://www.ProcessToProfits.com/products/outsourcing

After 5 PM Friday though the price will return to the normal $300/year.

Ciao!
