The Best Kind Of Information Product

February 27th, 2008 by Administrator

Hi,

A question I hear a lot is:

I want to make money online selling information products… Should I create an ebook, an audio product as an MP3 download, a video, or physical product like a CD or DVD?

Want my take? There is no right or wrong answer.

Actually, the real answer is you should consider all different types of information products.

Some of your prospects will respond to digital downloads, other will prefer physical products. Some might not mind reading on-screen or printing an ebook, others might be blind. I could go on and on, so hopefully you get the picture.

While we’re on the subject of creating information products, let me talk briefly about pricing and perceived value. Some turn their nose away from creating ebooks over other information product formats. Their argument is other formats take less time to make and can sell for more money.

This is only partially true. For example, in terms of the time it takes to create a product, you can outsource some or all aspects of product creation. Secondly the price for an information product is related to its perceived value. For example, some people will pay hundreds of dollars for an ebook that contains coveted information. This is very common with research reports.

So, rather than getting bogged down trying to figure out what kind of information product to create, just pick one and create it.

Regards,

-Taylor
