When Was Your Last Online Database Backup?

April 21st, 2007 by Administrator

In case you didn’t notice, if you re-read my heading, you’ll see I used the word “online.”

I did this intentionally…

Because no matter how often you back up your “work” hard-drive (the one sitting in your spare bedroom, your basement, or even in your laptop), there’s still data that’s gathering every minute of every hour, and every hour of every day “online.” And if you don’t have a process in place to back up that online data, you could be asking for a lot of stress.

Of course, my point only matters if you’re involved in Internet marketing and have any mix of systems including autoresponders, shopping carts, blogs, content Web sites, membership communities and so on. And what do most of these systems have in common? Databases, which often are mySQL databases. (James Brausch reminds you to include vendors like PayPal, AWeber, Clickbank and 1ShoppingCart in your crucial backup list).

If you asked me to guess why most people who lose data online weren’t backing up their critical databases regularly, I’d say it’s more than likely because they were not aware of a simple and easy way to do it.

Simple and easy. Yes, that’s the way most of us like things.

That’s how Really Simple Backup for mySQL came to be. I needed a process in place to automatically email me database backups so that neither my interns nor I would ever have to worry about doing online database backups manually.

To have a backup of your blog, membership site, links or other mySQL database emailed to you on-schedule, like clockwork, get a copy of Really Simple Backup for mySQL.

To Lasting Profits!
